Mayans Mobilize

Guatemala’s seven million Mayans put their experience with the UN and international NGOs to use in seeking the top national leadership position in order to combat the racism that fomented their 36-year civil war by military and paramilitary right-wing death squads against the indigenous people. Bringing the generals and politicians to trial for atrocities committed remains a top priority in preventing a recurrence.
